5 Knives that Say "I Love You"

Can you think of anything more romantic than giving a brand new knife to your boyfriend or wife?

OK, so maybe a knife is not the traditional idea of a gift that screams “I love you,” but a knife does make a truly fantastic gift for the outdoor enthusiast or knife lover.

So we’ve assembled a list of five knives that say “I love you.” (Warning: Puns ahead.)

Cold Steel Brave Heart Dagger

Cut to the heart of your feelings with the Cold Steel Brave Heart Dagger. The knife, which is modeled after the boot knife used by Scotland’s highland warriors, is the perfect way to tell your significant other just how much you depend on them.

The Brave Heart Dagger is a backup knife that’s lightweight, multifunctional, and always there when you need it.

Kershaw Leek

What makes the Kershaw Leek such a good knife to give your loved one? The fact that it comes in so many styles means you can get it with a handle in the favorite color of your significant other.

“I got you this purple Leek because I know it’s your favorite color” or “I bought you the rainbow Leek because you’re as beautiful as a rainbow.” Need we say more?

Parker River Classic

“I love you”

Give a knife engraved with that phrase and tell me it doesn’t evoke some emotions from the recipient.

A personalized knife in any style makes a great romantic gift, but Parker River does it especially well with engravings right into the red grain wood handle of its Classic model.

Check out the new 2012 Wenger Blackout Series

Wenger has been a company well-known for being one of the two companies that make the Swiss Army knife (the other being Victorinox, of course). They’ve since expanded their repertoire to include things such as backpacks and shoes.

However, Wenger is continuing their long-held tradition of brilliantly made knives with the recent editions to their collection: the Blackout Series. Wenger first announced these three new knives back in January and they are definitely something to marvel at.

Here’s a little more about them.

Check out the brand new 2012 Spyderco knives

Spyderco is a brand well-known for innovation, unique designs and quality, which is why we’re so excited for this year’s batch of brand new Spyderco knives. Here’s a look at a few of the most anticipated new blades you can buy today.

Spyderco Junior by Alexandru Diaconescu

Inspired by his son who was entering a “curious stage in his life,” Romanian designer Alexandru Diaconescu created the Junior with uncoordinated child’s hands in mind. The handle gives the wielder complete control without running the risk of accidentally sliding their fingers upward. This design has been making the biggest waves in the knife community.

Spyderco Squeak Slipit

Here’s a description from the Spyderco catalog: Produced in Maniago, Italy, the Squeak SLIPIT is a non-locking, one hand open, clip carry folder. Need I say more about this awesome-looking knife?

Zombie Killer ‘Pestilence’ Chopper from KA-BAR

ZK "Pestilence" ChopperTired of hearing and posturing about what you would do during a zombie invasion? I didn’t think so.

Earlier in the week, I posted about Gerber’s intense Apocalypse Survival Kit featuring some pretty badass tools like the awesome DMF folder that comes in handy when the undead are looking for fresh flesh. Knives, unlike guns that require ammunition, are perfect weapons for battling “walkers.”

So, offering their own solution to the eventual zombie invasion, KA-BAR has been marketing the ZK “Pestilence” Chopper knife as an ultimate zombie killer (hence ZK).

All these companies marketing their knives as safeguards against the undead is a genius idea. Although some people might perceive these tactics as demeaning and toy-like, the knives themselves boast pure craftsmanship.

The Pestilence has an overall length of nearly 16 inches with a 10.25-inch blade made from quality SK5 steel. It has an amazingly contoured handle that’s really comfortable despite the overall heaviness of the tool.

The main issue of the blade revolves around its versatility. It’s too big for everyday carry though not quite big enough to be a practical machete. Although its main trade is probably decapitating monsters, the Pestilence does do a fantastic job clearing brush and undergrowth out in the wilderness.

A badass military boot knife from Smith and Wesson

We sell over 10,000 knives in our e-commerce store, some of which we don’t think get the individual attention they deserve.  For this reason, every Monday we’ll be doing a product spotlight to feature one of our favorite blades. This week’s featured product is the Smith and Wesson H.R.T Military Boot Knife.

Military Boot Knife By Smith and Wesson

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be a modern day Rambo or an Army commando to carry a military boot knife. This 7.5-inch knife, which packs a 3.5-inch stainless steel blade with a spear-point tip, is perfect for any outdoor adventure.

You can slice through brush, hack through small logs, gut a wild pig or stab a bear with this blade, just remember to secure it in the convenient boot clip when you’re done.

At 4.6 ounces, this knife is surprisingly light considering its raw power.  The bottom line: it’s a top-quality blade, but it’s not for everyone.  However, if you’re a hardcore outdoorsman who needs a hardcore knife, it’s worth checking out.

The Smith and Wesson military boot knife currently retails for only$19.99, meaning you’ll not only get a great knife, but a great deal as well.  Want more details?  Check it out here.

The Tool Logic Pocket Hunter Card

Every week, Samantha James reviews a different Knife Depot product. Check out her past product highlights here.

What’s in your pocket?Pocket Card Knife

Do you carry a stainless steel gut hook blade? How about an LED flashlight? What about a combination can/bottle opener? Do you have a tweezer and toothpick? Do you sport a ruler with centimeters and inches?

If you tried to carry all of these things in the front pocket of your pants, you’d likely (a) slice your hands to pieces and (b) walk very clumsily.

Of course, there is another option.

Scope out the Tool Logic Pocket Hunter Card, a sweet new gadget blade that packs all of the above tools in one multi-faceted package.

This credit-card-size all-in-one is about as versatile and rugged as an all-purpose knife tool can be. It features a wide 2-inch fold-out stainless blade that’s sharp enough to skin animals and has a gut hook on the back.

In addition to its myriad accessories, the hunter card weighs in at a svelte 1.3 ounces, with a length and width of 3.375″ and 2.125″ respectively.  It’s made of ABS plastic and comes with a satin finish.

A number of similar pocket hunter cards have been developed recently, but in my opinion the Tool Logic Pocket Hunter Card may be the best of the bunch.  And, at 36 bucks, it’s a steal.

If you’re looking to pick up an all-in-one outdoor tool, snag one today.

Looking for a new machete?

The machete is one of the world’s handiest blades.  A cross between a knife and an ax, it can be used for everything from cutting and maintaining trails to chopping wood.  If you happen to run into trouble in the great outdoors, you can even use a machete to defend yourself against a wild animal or a venomous snake.

Of course, that’s only if you have a high-quality blade.  Check out the Woodman’s Pal Classic Machete, which comes with a Cordura sheath and a honing stone.  Weighing in at 23 ounches, with a blade 17 inches long, the Woodman’s Pal is one of the most burly machetes on the market.

Handcrafted in Pennsylvania, with American materials, this machete works great for cutting and chopping brush up to 3 inches in diameter. It’s constructed of high carbon steel and has a brown wood handle. Its Cordura sheath, which is one of the toughest fabrics made to man, will keep your blade at hand’s reach when it’s not in use. If your machete starts to dull, a honing store is included.

Interested, check out other items by Woodmans’s Pal or browse our entire collection of machete knives.
