2014 Products from ESEE Knives

We’re already three months into the year, but we’re still making our way through products jumping onto the market this year. We’ve gone through new knives from CRKT, Zero Tolerance and a few others and today we’re looking at some of the new items from ESEE.

ESEE Knives, which focuses mainly on gear for the outdoors and survival situations, only has four new products slated for this year, but they definitely don’t disappoint.

ESEE-CM6

First up, we have the Terrill Hoffman-designed ESEE-CM6. It’s billed as the joining of “tactical and practical,” meaning the knife excels out on the battlefield or in the forests. It has a hefty overall length of 11.13 inches with a blade length of 5.88 inches. The drop point blade is made from 1095 carbon steel with a textured black powder coat. A canvas Micarta handle covers the full tang of the knife.

It comes with a black Kydex sheath.

Victorinox One-hand Trekker – Badass Knife of the Week

This week’s Badass Knife of the Week ain’t your father’s Swiss Army knife.

The One-Hand Trekker from Victorinox is a beautifully modern take on the classic Swiss Army knife, blending the reliable functionality of the old models with a sleek and stylish design fit for the 21st century.

The first thing you’ll notice on the Trekker is the attention-grabbing 111mm (roughly 4.4 inches) serrated blade. Two things set this blade apart from previous models. First, it’s one of only a few blades to have a locking mechanism. Second, it has a hole for quick and easy one-handed opening.

Badass Knife of the Week: Kershaw Leek

After a long, cold winter, spring is finally here. And there’s no better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than picking one of the best spring-assisted knives as the Badass Knife of the Week: the Kershaw Leek.

The Kershaw Leek is widely considered an awesome spring-assisted knife and typically appears on lists naming the best pocket knives on the market (including our own list).

Here’s why: The Leek may very well be the perfect EDC.

The knife was designed by renowned knifemaker Ken Onion, who invented the SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism.

When you need the Leek in a pinch, all you have to do is pull back on the flipper or use the thumb stud for a quick engagement.

The reversible pocketclip allows you to carry the knife either tip up or tip down and the assisted opening mechanism allows you to engage the knife with one hand, regardless of which one you use. That means the Leek is exactly where you want it when you want it.

Badass Knife of the Week: Warcraft Tanto by Cold Steel

We welcome you to step inside the wicked world of the Warcraft Tanto from Cold Steel, which takes the title as this week’s Badass Knife of the Week.

The Warcraft Tanto, the first product in the Warcraft series, boasts some specs that seem like they’re straight out of a video game. It features a gorgeous 7.5-inch, DLC (Diamond Like Coating) coated blade that’s highly resistant to rust and scratches. The blade itself has a stout flat ground primary cutting edge and a chisel ground secondary bevel that creates a formidable second point ideal for a snap cut.

And we haven’t even gotten to the best part of the blade yet: the steel.

Badass Knife of the Week: KA-BAR Kukri

We all know the history and legend behind knives like the Bowie or Buck knife, but the kukri knife is one so seeped in tradition and romance that the KA-BAR adaptation of the knife is this week’s Badass Knife of the Week.

The history of the kukri has roots in ancient times and has become something of a national symbol to the people of Nepal, who use the knife for nearly everything. The curved blade that makes up the kukri gives it the versatility to act as a weapon, agricultural tool or anything else you can imagine.

The knife boasts an 11.5-inch 1085 carbon steel blade with a functional angle of 20 degrees and a hollow grind. At an overall length of 17 inches, the kukri machete weighs in at 1.7 pounds, which gives it enough heft that it feels natural and balanced in your hands.

Like all KA-BAR products, the kukri is built to take on pretty much anything you can throw at it, including all the chopping and field use you can manage. The Kraton G handle features a nice butt cap and guard to keep it from slipping out of your grip.

As with any good knife, the Kukri Machete comes with a durable Cordura and leather sheath that attaches to your belt, so you can have it when you need it. With this beauty strapped to your hip, you’ll be all set in the jungle.

Student Faces Consequences For Having Father’s Knife in his Car at School

To any adult, using or carrying a knife is part of daily life. Most people never think twice about using a knife for activities like opening packages or even fishing.

But, as 18-year-old honor student David Duren-Sanner learned, mixing a knife and school can turn your whole life upside down.

A few weeks ago, David’s car was selected for a random search (which itself seems pretty outrageous), and Tennessee police found a small knife in the car.

The kicker of the whole thing was that the knife wasn’t even his. His father, a fisherman, had recently given him his car and accidentally left the knife in it. Needless to say, school officials did not buy the excuse and immediately suspended David for 10 days.

Knife of the Week: SOG Vulcan

The legend of Vulcan, the Roman god of fire, has him manufacturing the finest steel weaponry for his fellow gods and heroes with an emphasis on craftsmanship, which is why Vulcan makes such an apt name for this week’s Badass Knife of the Week.

The SOG Vulcan embodies two admirable attributes of the Roman god: formidable strength and quality craftsmanship. The knife boasts a 3.5-inch, VG-10 blade with a tanto-style tip and good-looking grind that could put even the most decorated warrior in a trance.

New 2014 Condor Tool & Knife Products

We’re still slowly but surely making our way through the new knives of 2014 and we continue with new products from Condor Tool and Knife. The relatively new company has already has a wide assortment of machetes, axes, knives and survival tools to pick from, but everyone agrees that this year’s lineup is fantastic.

Here are the new products from Condor Tool & Knife.

Bombus

The Bombus is a nice fixed blade knife with an overall length of 5 inches and a 1075 high carbon steel black finish blade. The knife comes with a Kydex sheath and chain, so it can be carried around the neck.

Crotalus

The Crotalus is a longer fixed blade knife that’s 10 and 3/4 inches overall. Like the Bombus, it features a Micarta handle, 1075 high carbon steel and comes with a Kydex sheath.
