Badass Knife of the Week: Benchmade 940

Benchmade 940 Osborne

Your long search for the perfect everyday carry knife is finally over. Meet the Benchmade 940.

Our latest Badass Knife of the Week is billed as one of the most quintessential EDC knives ever created, and with universal acclaim coming from all corners of the knife world, it’s hard to argue.

The 940 is designed by respected custom knifemaker Warren Osborne, who was raised in the farming industry and knows what a great pocket knife should feel like. His focus on ergonomics and functionality shine through the 940.

The knife features a 3.4-inch reverse tanto blade made of premium CPM-S30V stainless steel with a 58-60HRC. This particular iteration of the 940 has a satin finish with a straight edge, but it also comes in a black finish (as seen right) or serrated edge.

Continuing down on the knife are green anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handles, which are designed for comfort and performance. The handle is rounded out with stainless steel liners and a colored anodized titanium backspacker.

Because the reliability of a knife is of utmost importance, the 940 features Benchmade’s patented AXIS locking mechanism, which is 100 percent ambidextrous and capable of withstanding anything you throw at it.

The knives also include a reversible tip-up pocket clip because you’ll never want to be separated from the 940 once you hold it.
