2014 Products from ESEE Knives

We’re already three months into the year, but we’re still making our way through products jumping onto the market this year. We’ve gone through new knives from CRKT, Zero Tolerance and a few others and today we’re looking at some of the new items from ESEE.

ESEE Knives, which focuses mainly on gear for the outdoors and survival situations, only has four new products slated for this year, but they definitely don’t disappoint.

ESEE-CM6

First up, we have the Terrill Hoffman-designed ESEE-CM6. It’s billed as the joining of “tactical and practical,” meaning the knife excels out on the battlefield or in the forests. It has a hefty overall length of 11.13 inches with a blade length of 5.88 inches. The drop point blade is made from 1095 carbon steel with a textured black powder coat. A canvas Micarta handle covers the full tang of the knife.

It comes with a black Kydex sheath.

New 2014 Condor Tool & Knife Products

We’re still slowly but surely making our way through the new knives of 2014 and we continue with new products from Condor Tool and Knife. The relatively new company has already has a wide assortment of machetes, axes, knives and survival tools to pick from, but everyone agrees that this year’s lineup is fantastic.

Here are the new products from Condor Tool & Knife.

Bombus

The Bombus is a nice fixed blade knife with an overall length of 5 inches and a 1075 high carbon steel black finish blade. The knife comes with a Kydex sheath and chain, so it can be carried around the neck.

Crotalus

The Crotalus is a longer fixed blade knife that’s 10 and 3/4 inches overall. Like the Bombus, it features a Micarta handle, 1075 high carbon steel and comes with a Kydex sheath.

New 2014 Knives from Zero Tolerance

Zero Tolerance, a perennial winner of the Knife of the Year award from BLADE Magazine, is releasing six new products this year.

Along with the knives below, Zero Tolerance added a few modifications to other models, including a BlackWash finish to the 0560, 0350 and 0300 and a carbon fiber handle to the 0770.

ZT 0102

The first product we’re showing you (based on the model number) is the ZT 0102, which is Zero Tolerance’s introduction to the tactical tomahawk. It has an overall length of 16 inches and a handle with G-10 scales. It boasts Vanadis 4 extra powdered steel for durability and protection. The back spike is great for penetration and the pommel can be used as a pry bar.

ZT 0180

Based on Rick Hinderer’s Fieldtac, this tough fixed blade is lighter and smaller with a Vanadis 4 extra powdered steel blade. The blade is 9.2 inches overall with a 4.2-inch blade.

New 2014 Products from Buck Knives

Last week, we took a look at the new knives being released this year by CRKT, but this week, we’re looking at the new Buck knives of 2014.

Buck has always been a reliable name in the knife industry because they never rest on their laurels (and lord knows they can). Although Buck Knives didn’t do anything drastic this year, the new products are broadening their line of knives. In addition to the items below, there will be a few additions, redesigns and the commemorative edition of the 110 we told you about two weeks ago.

726 Mini SpitFire

The original SpitFire was introduced last year with enough success to prompt a smaller version for this year. The new lockback folder weighs 2.1 oz, as opposed to the original SpitFire’s weight of 3.2 oz. The anodized aluminum handle of the sleek knife comes in the three colors above. Like the original version, the Mini SpitFire’s blade is made of 420HC steel.

183 Alpha Crosslock

The Alpha Crosslock is not a new knife per se, but it underwent a drastic enough redesign to warrant a mention here. This knife has a spear point blade and saw blade with integrated gut hook, which makes it great for hunting. The alterations made to the Alpha Crosslock involve a more durable locking mechanism and more control when conditions are wet (since the original had aluminum grips). Available in orange and green.

New 2014 Products from CRKT

With the 2014 SHOT Show officially over, most of the manufacturers have released the brand new knives and gear you’ll see in the coming months.

There are a ton of new products, including many that will make you say this, but instead of heaping them all on you at once, we thought it’d be better to soak things in a bit.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be bring you new products from the various brands of knives we carry.

To kick things off, we’re taking a look at the slew of new products from CRKT.

Buy Tighe

Buy-Tigh

Way back in 2012, the Buy Tighe won the BLADE Show award for Most Innovative Design, and even though it’s taken awhile to see production, this beauty is well worth the wait. CRKT is offering the knife for its 20th anniversary (you’ll notice a 20 on the blade). Only 500 of these knives will be made.

Obake

We teased the Obake, which is designed by Lucas Burnley, a little while back, but now we have some more info on it. The knife is a throwback to a Japanese Kwaiken design and features an acid-etched titanium nitride finish.

Benchmade Teases New HUNT Series

With what last year has wrought firmly in the past (and in the case of things like Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance, good riddance), it’s time to look forward to the best of 2014. With the 2014 SHOT Show just days away, you can expect to see a whole host of new and exciting knives coming this year.

Late last month, Benchmade gave us a glimpse of what we can expect to see at the SHOT Show this year: a new line of hunting knives called HUNT.

Check out the teaser video below

What knives are you looking forward to this year?

Case Announces New Collaborative Knife Collection with Carhartt

W.R. CASE & SONS CUTLERY CO. POCKET KNIFE COLLECTION
It took 124 years, but a collaborative effort between Carhartt and Case was finally announced at this year’s SHOT Show. The two companies, both founded way back in 1889, will launch a new collection of knives aptly called the Carhartt Knives by Case Collection.

In case you didn’t know, Carhartt is a U.S.-based clothing company that’s known for its rugged work clothing, which makes the collaboration with Case perfect.

The new collection will feature 22 different models with a made-in-the-USA stamp and will be available within the next few months.

Here’s a more detailed description of the types of knives in the collection from Tactical Fanboy:

Made up of 22 individual models, the knives are divided into three separate categories: the G-10 knives which features 7 knives with an ultra-tough handle material with an earthy color and rugged texture inspired by Carhartt’s signature Duck Canvas, the Molasses Bone family with 9 knives that feature a dark brown and bone-colored handle, and the 6 knives in the Rough Black-over-Cream family which are manufactured using a high-quality, durable resin.

These knives are targeted at blue-collar workers who need durable knives for EDC. Case took about three years analyzing Carhartt before realizing just how closely aligned these two companies were, according to an article in Outdoor Hub. New products will be added to the line in the future.

Zero Tolerance Unveils New Knives at SHOT Show

As stated last week, there’s a lot to look forward to in the world of knives. Manufacturers are posting the products for 2013 on their websites and showing off new prototypes at the famous SHOT Show. Now it’s time to parse through the information and give you a rundown of some knives you should look forward to.

If you’re a fan of knives, one thing you should have on your radar is the new Zero Tolerance knives showcased at this year’s SHOT Show. You can get a much better preview from Stuart at Tool Guyd, but here’s a quick look at the ZT models.

ZT 0566 (Rick Hinderer Design)

Rick Hinderer is a tactical design hero around these parts, so we were really looking forward to this knife. The 0566 doesn’t disappoint. It features a 3.25-inch blade made from Stonewashed Elmax. One side of the handle is textured G10 while the other side is made from stainless steel. It’s an assisted-opening flipper with a stainless steel frame lock, which makes the knife a bit more affordable. The MSRP is set at $180.

This is another similarly sized flipper made from Elmax. What jumps out is the apparent plainness in the aluminum handle, but it retains the workhorse attitude expected from Zero Tolerance. The ZT 0770 is basically the simplified and efficient version of the award-winning (but very expensive) 0777. The MSRP is $180.

Finally, we have yet another stonewashed Elmax steel blade on the ZT 0801, which is designed by knife-maker Todd Rexford. The blade is 3.5 inches and the knife is 4.7 inches when closed. The MSRP on this model is a bit higher at $240.

New CRKT Knives for 2013

It’s the beginning of the year and a ton of new knives are coming out, including some great sneak peeks at the 2013 SHOT Show. We’ll be bringing you the latest knife models featured at the SHOT Show, but in this post we’re going to look at the best new knives from CRKT.

On Wednesday, CRKT announced on its Facebook page that the new product specs are up on their site and you can check out the whole 2013 product lineup on the “What’s New” page.

Here are some of the highlights from the new CRKT products.

Otanashi noh Ken – Designed by James Williams

Probably one of the most anticipated knives of the lineup, the Otanashi noh Ken is a badass tactical folder designed by martial artist James Williams.

Another piece of tactical gear we have to look forward to is the T-Hawk, which comes in two different models: Kangee and Chogan. The ‘hawk has an overall length of 13.75 inches and a glass-filled nylon handle.

Two Knives to Look Forward to in 2013

C156GBN_L
Despite all the grand fears and grumblings about the end of the world, it’s two days after the prophetic end of the Mayan calendar and we are all still here.

Whether you were hoping for the apocalypse or looking for things to follow the status quo, we still have a lot to look forward to.

In the short-term, the start of the new year in a few weeks means the arrival of a whole host of brand new knives. One new knife you can set your sights on is the CRKT Otanashi Noh Ken.

The first I heard of this knife was in a review over at The Edge Observer. Available after the 2013 SHOT Show, the Otanashi Noh Ken is a thin, combat folder designed by James Williams. The name of the knife translates to silent sword because it takes cues from Japanese-styled swords. I’m not putting it as eloquently as The Edge Observer, but it looks like a truly badass knife. You can see the video review embedded below.
