Kershaw is no stranger to innovation.
On top of popularizing assisted-opening mechanisms, the brand helped pioneer the use of composite blades. This design combines two complementary alloys to make an attractive and high-quality blade.
This is best illustrated in our latest Knife of the Week.
The Kershaw Dividend Composite is a handsome American-made folder that excels as a hard-working everyday carry.
The 3-inch blade melds D2 steel on the cutting edge with Bohler N690 to harness the toughness of D2 and the corrosion resistance of N690. The process also creates an eye-catching zipper look where the two steels meet.
An assisted-opening mechanism ensures the blade springs open lightning fast with the push of the flipper tab.
The handle of the Kershaw Dividend Composite uses lightweight aluminum scales anodized in olive to make it stand apart from other typical all-black knives.
With a reasonable weight of 2.8 ounces and deep-carry pocket clip, this unique and exceptional folder is a perfect EDC companion.
The Kershaw Dividend is available in MagnaCut as well.

The handle is constructed from lightweight aluminum scales that are anodized in an olive finish. This not only enhances durability but also sets it apart from typical all-black knives.

The composite blade approach on the Dividend is really clever. Combining D2 for edge retention with N690 for corrosion resistance gives you the best of both worlds without compromising on either front. Kershaw keeps pushing boundaries with practical innovations like this.

I’ve always been a fan of Kershaw’s assisted opening, but that D2 and N690 combo is next level. That ‘zipper’ line where the steels meet looks so cool. I wonder how the D2 edge holds up over time compared to a solid blade? Definitely looks like a solid choice for an EDC.
