Fallkniven F1

A wise man once said that “simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication.” That astute proclamation perfectly describes the latest Badass Knife of the Week: the Fallkniven F1.

Fallkniven (pronounced felk-nee-ven) is well known for its straightforward designs that opt for functionality over presentation, and the Fallkniven F1 is that philosophy at its best.

The survival knife boasts an impressive 3.8-inch blade designed for maximum efficiency. The drop point blade, which is made of high-quality laminated VG-10 stainless steel, features a full convex grind. This offers a stronger and better cutting edge.

Balancing out the blade is an ergonomic 4.5-inch handle made of Thermorun, which is firm and grippy in wet conditions.

This specific version of the Fallkniven includes a durable Zytel sheath for easy carry, but you can also pick up the F1 in a black finish, as pictured to the right.

If you had any qualms as to the quality of the knife, you needn’t worry. Not only has the F1 been the official survival knife for all pilots in the Swedish Air Force since 1995 but the black variation has also been approved for use by air crews in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.

The best part of the Fallkniven F1 is that what you see is what you get. Despite not having any extra features or bells and whistles, the knife will give you exactly what you need in the toughest survival situations.

There’s nothing more you could ask for in a survival knife.
