In the most iconic scene from Crocodile Dundee, Mick Dundee and his lady friend are accosted by a mugger with a switchblade, to which Mick comments while pulling out his own Bowie knife, “That’s not a knife? That’s a knife.”
Sure it’s a roundabout way to introduce the latest Badass Knife of the Week, but it’s 100 percent worth it because the Dundee Bowie from Condor Tool & Knife will have people constantly remarking, “Now that’s a knife.”
This massive Bowie is more than 17 inches of pure knife. With a blade that’s 11 inches long and features a pronounced clip point, the Dundee Bowie is a real beast.
Although Condor TK is best known for making a slew of quality machetes, the company puts its experience making large blades to good use by using 1075 high carbon steel with epoxy black powder coating.
A single fuller near the spine also reduces some of the weight of the hefty blade and gives it more weight toward the front.
With a knife this large, the design of the handle can make or break the tool. Fortunately, the Dundee Bowie does not disappoint.
The handle is made of high impact polypropylene, which is not only comfortable but highly durable. With a pronounced rear quillon and a modest front quillon, your hand won’t slip off the handle or slide onto the blade with vigorous use. A lanyard hole also allows you to tether the knife to your wrist for extra security.
The Dundee Bowie comes with a simple yet functional leather sheath, which has a belt loop.
