I love assisted opening. The problem with assisted opening is the knife snobs who think they know what everyone else wants. And that their bullshit opinions mean more than mine. Or others who prefer something else. I hate motherfuckers who think they know what is best for me. The knife nerds and die hard morons can go fuck themselves.
Worry about your own knife preferences. And I will worry about mine.

Friend, cut fingers is just a part of playing with sharp objects. I get little cuts fairly frequently, as I “restore” a lot of old slip-joint traditional pocketknives. I can’t quite ignore the little cuts as easily as I did when I was younger—because as another commenter mentioned, my doctor has put me on blood thinners. And so instead of the tiny cut getting wiped off and continuing with my task, it keeps bleeding for a bit and I have to get a band-aid cause I don’t want blood on my work. 😁

But the little cuts, and once in a while deeper cuts—that’s just a minor part of the hobby.

To get clicks, of course. Clicks means advertising revenue. The MAIN PURPOSE of everything that interests you on the internet is to get advertising revenue.

I’m always amazed how many people don’t understand that.

I have quite a few knives and primarily carry assisted openers! There is a good reason: with small hands, complicated by age and aching joints, I have grown to love the assisted opening mechanism for it's help to get a blade deployed quickly and completely. I have never had an AO knife open in my pocket even though I don't use the safety on my daily carry (an older SOG Flash II). The safety post on the Onions from KAI are too hard to use so they are not useful IMHO. Even though I have been able to carry an auto (I work in Law Enforcement) I do not see the advantage over the assisted folder so will save the $ to buy other toys.
The picture of a Kalashnikov auto sticking out of someones BDU's does show why you should spend more for quality design and Mfg. when going AUTO.

Gee, just don't understand the relevance of the comments on AO, manual and Automatic knives. If these types of knives are an issue, just carry a "Fixed Blade". I am a knife collector, although I, have stopped buying anymore knives, but with the advent of various types of fixed blade knives, both large and small, with leather or synthetic sheathes, that is another option, and still carry a quality manual one handed opener. I always have a fixed blade and a folding knife, maybe more than one, on my person when I get ready for whatever the day has in store for me. It's always better to be ready than get ready.

I carry autos,OTF,assisted, and Manual knives. I prefer autos and OTF knives. I have them from many different companies and made by several different designers. When I carry an auto, assisted, or OTF I always have a manual knife with me.

I have more than 30 pocket knives in every size, shape, and configuration imaginable. Each is a bit different from the others. I think the only one with assisted opening is my Benchmade Griptillian Jr. it works perfectly and in spite of daily carry, it has never had a malfunction. I like the opener and closer on this knife. I have carried a pocket knife since I was 9 years old, and I am 73 in a little over a week from now. In all those years I have not had a malfunction. I have cut myself by being stupid, but not a malfunction of the knife. I don’t care what kind of opener it has, as long as it does open. I have a couple manual open that are hard to open. That’s more dangerous than the assisted openers. The greatest error most people have is using a dull knife. That will hurt you much easier than an assisted opener. I would encourage people to spend time getting their knife sharp and keeping it that way than worrying about what kind of opener or closure it may have.
