Then put a band-aid on it and finish the job. If it’s a deep cut, fold some gauze or a paper towel over it and some duct tape. It’ll hold perfectly, and stay tight long enough for the bleeding to stop, and you can get to a place where you can properly clean it, stitch it if you must and apply clean bandages.
