I thought you might have mentioned the different types of swords such as the Daito, the KO, the wakizashi and Tanto. Movie makers often go with the more common weapons.

Most of us are familiar enough with the single katana and the companion short sword and dagger, but as I only learned not too long ago even the single katana may have a different degree of curvature, length and tip. I believe there are actually 5 or 7 different tips. And each sword of the 3-piece set may be slightly longer or shorter to better fit the user or whatever the reason.

And then many dealers offer straight versions and there is the shirasaya or zatoichi, "The Blind Man's Sword", which are less decorative, lacking wrapped handles and are meant not to look like swords and can be straight or curved. Many sword users warn about the potential dangers of these swords because they have no guard.

We're lucky today, as we can find a classic styled sword or many of the variations just like being able to buy any type of machete made. We have no idea how to use this stuff, but we can have it and learn with a few mouse clicks.

But if you could discuss some variations I think people would be interested in some more articles.
