I know in flordia it IS legal to own a spring assist and carry it just like a typicall folding knife (best part your local Wall Mart sells them for a good price) **Orlando and Miami are excluded from this list**

It actually varies from state to state but in many states you’re allowed to own them, just not carry them. In other states you can’t have them at all. Most of the laws against switchblades came about when movies (i.e. Rebel Without A Cause and West Side Story) and the media glamorized their use for “thug” purposes.

Mark, the laws don’t make any sense. There are now “assisted open” knives that are basically the same as switchblades but are still legal. It’s a mess.

I may not be the brightest cookie in the drawer, but what is the point of outlawing switchblades again? Switch blades are to sticks and stones what full auto is to a single shot?
