My wife has sliced her fingers, cut off the tips of fingernails and other chips in the counter. I use mine with the Spyderco Galley V sharpener. It is designed to be screwed to a counter or otherwise secured. I rent a small apartment so I use the glove and hold it with my hand. As of yet I have not had a mishap but better safe than sorry.
