Yes, I understand your point and you seem to be an expert on these bears. I have only hunted around them for 35 years and never did kill one and only because I didn’t have the desire. You are probably one of those animal rights activists and know not to hunt deer when there are bears present. Poor bears.

If your an experienced hunter, then you know the danger and brown bears are known to have keen sense of smell. The poor bear picked up the scent of the deer and followed it. Another senseless death of an animal.

I was hunting Elk 2 miles North of the Anchorage man hunting on Rasberry Island NE of Kodiak Island. He was attacked by a huge Kodiak Brown, of the largest bears in the world, as he was gutting a dear. The 55 year old man was mauled pretty bad but stabbed the griz until it dropped him. The man did survive but the bear was found dead. The only known account of hand combat killing a big Kodiak.
