I carry a Kobalt 364867 folding knife with utility blade at work. I use it all day for cutting cardboard and other routine chores. It has a large handle with a cool electric blue color. When not at work I carry a Gerber auto ADES with a 3 3/4 inch blade. My employer won’t allow me to carry it on the job. The Kobalt is better than nothing!

When I visit the VA Medical center for my health needs I also cannot carry the Gerber – the government doesn’t allow anyone to carry any kind of “weapon.” So I just leave it in the car.

In some situations, such as Rüdiger Leonardy’s rescue of the man from the wrecked car, having a knife could be difference between life and death.

I am not disparaging women also carrying a knife or similar tool; it’s basic preparedness for any responsible human. However, I am saying no male, in my opinion, can truly consider himself a MAN if he won’t carry the most basic essential of preparedness and self-sufficiency. I’m 74, so by all means please feel free to call me a fossil.
