I call foul.
I like my pocket knife a lot too.

I once kept snakes. Though I no longer have any pets that require cages.
BUT, I HAD a 6 foot Burmese python as a teen, I had hand raised it from around 2' long, which was in the process of shedding, and was unable to see due to his clouded eyes.
I was feeding him, and as I dropped in his dinner, he lunged for it, missed, and unintentionally got my hand, and ended up with his coils engulfing my lower arm.
I knew he wasn't agressive, and as a teen, knew that first, to unwrap a constrictor you have to start at the tail. Being alone, it wasn't possible for me to uncoil him, as every time I'd get a coil off, he'd manage to get the loose potion re-wrapped on me.

Instead of killing him. I inserted closed scissors in his mouth, then opened them, unlocking his jaws long enough for me to get control of his head.
At that point I managed to get him back in his tank, and the smell of dinner made him forget about my hand.

I think knives are one of man's best tools, but knowing it wasn't big enough to eat me, and it wasn't poisonous, I took the time to find a non deadly solution.

That woman sounds like she was in no way prepared to keep 1 snake. Much less become a 'snake rescuer', of large constructors. As her fear of a bite that was bloody, I'm sure, but not life threatening, shows.
**Not ever mentioning it ever being wrapped around her neck, by the way.**
Utimately, her ignorance killed a snake that never asked to be bred for sale and kept in tiny enclosures (typically).
