One thing about Amazon and other giants is that they are part of the Global Economy created by Wall Street and Politicians. With them it is all about money and you are at the back of the bus and eat hot dogs and beaans while they eat steak and drink single malt.
You are on your own.
Buy from a verified source. That I cannot stress enough.
You are on your own with your choice.

I try not to buy knives from Amazon. I am a collector, yet some brands are not available elsewhere.
You CAN purchase GENUINE Spyderco's (and other top brands) from eBay, but, you have to use some common sense and follow a few personal caveats. I just got my Endura Damascus Zome', and its 100% the real deal.

(1) Buy from a REPUTABLE eBay seller. Check their rating. if its under 99.5% positive (someone's always bound to be ticked off no matter what) avoid them. (2) Check their country of origin on their profile. (sorry China, you're a no buy zone for me) Some Chinese sellers are drop shippers with US address, so check the profile origin

Also, sites like Atlantic Knife and Cutlery , DO have an eBay presence, so look out for sellers like that.

KNOW YOUR PRODUCT! If something is off with the packaging or look of the knife, DO NOT BUY, and then, report it to eBay, and they will investigate and remove the listing(s) if they are indeed fake. I've personally reported several dozen fake offerings I spotted while shopping on eBay.

If it's TOO good to be true....., It usually is. That genuine LOOKING Medford Pretorian for under $100.00 (even used) is a fake, no matter what assurances the seller gives you.

The same principles can be successfully employed while shopping on Amazon, but your spidey senses have to be very strong.

Because of the amount of counterfeit merchandise on Amazon I have stopped buying anything from Amazon.

I'm not saying everything is fake or counterfeit but I work hard for my money and refuse to throw it away on something I cannot be 100% certain is not fake

My first “spyderco” was a fake that was gifted to me from a family member. I assumed they ordered it off of amazon. Spyderco offered me 45% rebate for a new knife when I sent mine in for repair. Spyderco is an amazing company and it is shameful that people do things like make knock off products from a respectable business.
